Recent leaks Samsung Galaxy S25 and reports indicate that the Korean tech giant will indeed provide the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processors for the entirety of its Galaxy S25 series, after previously employing a mixture of Exynos chips and Snapdragons to serve markets. The Galaxy S24 series, Samsung’s current flagship, started to use Exynos 2400 in some models.

Key Points:

Unique Snapdragon 8 Gen 4: Rumours suggest that the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 around the globe. Rumours even point towards the flagship to remain with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor only, instead of the current 4nm Exynos 2500. This could be owing to Samsung’s target of producing products that provide the best performance using the best components it has to address the performance concerns.

Performance Boost:

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is expected to deliver more than a 30 per cent boost in AI and GPU performance, on top of Qualcomm’s latest custom Oryon CPU cores and the Adreno 830 GPU, which should see a big boost in speed and efficiency.

Game-Changer:

In an effort to reduce added costs on application processors, Samsung has been moving on a strategic direction from the Exynos line of offerings to work exclusively with Snapdragon. It seems like Apple’s iPhone 16 series would include high AI capabilities in the new silicon, hence this strategic shift by Samsung towards a future line of Snapdragon offerings which will apparently power the company’s future foldable device(s), known as the Exynos 2500.

Market implications:

Due to the high production costs for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4’s 3nm process, the next-generation Galaxy S25 series could cost more. Although this move might be a risky business decision for the company, it will help Samsung secure a more solid position in the premium AI processor market.

In summary, Samsung’s decision to use Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 exclusively for the Galaxy S25 series demonstrates its determination to maximise performance and competitiveness in the high-end smartphone market.
